Sen. Bob Krist compares EPA’s Pruitt abuse of power to Gov. Ricketts use of State Patrol for personal travel and security

LINCOLN, NE – Sen. Bob Krist, candidate for Nebraska Governor, said today that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt’s abuse of power and waste of taxpayer money is similar to Gov. Ricketts’ use of the Nebraska State Patrol for his personal use.

“Scott Pruitt spent tens of thousands of dollars on a publicly-funded, 24-hour security detail, even accompanying him on personal trips, including a family vacation to Disneyland. Similarly, Gov Ricketts forced the Nebraska State Patrol to log heavy overtime hours during his first year in office on multiple personal trips to Europe and Asia. He also flew to Chicago Cubs games and out-of-state fundraisers - like Pruitt - all on the taxpayer’s dime,” Krist said.

“Pete Ricketts’ abuse of power and waste of taxpayer dollars has resulted in lost trust from average Nebraskans who work hard every day to make ends meet. Gov. Ricketts and Scott Pruitt are two peas in a pod: both love spending taxpayers’ money,” he said.

“On behalf of fiscal conservatives across Nebraska, I say good riddance to Scott Pruitt, and challenge us to hold Gov. Ricketts to the same standard,” Krist said.
